AnewstudybyChineseresearchershasfounddifferencesinthebrainactivityofmenandwomenaddicted（上瘾的）toInternetgaming.

Thestudysaysaddictedmenhavelowerimpulsecontrolcomparedwithwomen,indicatingthatmenaremorelikelytobecomeaddictedtointernetgaming.

ResearchersfromRenjiHospital,whichisconnectedwithShanghaiJiaotongUniversity,recruited105Chineseparticipantsforthestudy,whichhadtwogroups—onewith32menand23womenaddictedtogaming,andtheotherwith30menand22womenwhowerenotaddicted.

Theycompletedaquestionnaireforgamingaddiction,andreportedtheirgaminghistoryandnumberofhoursplayingperweek.Researchersalsotalkedwiththeirfamiliestocollecttheinformation.

ThroughFMRI（磁共振扫描）,researchersfoundthatmenaddictedtogaminghadlowerbrainactivityinthebrainregionassociatedwithimpulsecontrol,thannonaddictedmen.Thelowertheactivitylevels,thepoorertheimpulsecontrol.Addictedwomen,however,showednodifferencescomparedwiththehealthyfemalegroup.

Researchersalsostudiedthefunctionalconnectivitybetweenbrainregions,whichwerelowerinmenwithaddictionthaninnonaddictedmen,butshowednodifferencesinthefemalegroups.

Althoughtherearesomelimitations,thefindingssuggestthatactivitylevelsdisplayedinthebrainregioncouldbebiomarkerstoevaluatethebehavioralinhibitionsofgaming-addictedmen,theysaid.
