1.1Scope
Thisspecificationcoverstherequirementsforcast-in-placeandpre-castconcretematerialsandconstruction.
1.1.1Wheneveraconflictexistsamongthereferencedcodes,standardsandspecificationsincludingthisone,themorestringentshallapplyunlessspecificallynotedotherwiseintheprojectdocuments.
1.2DEFINITIONS
1.2.1“Owner”whenusedinthisSpecificationshallmeantheKoreaNationalOilCompanyoritsauthorizedrepresentative.

1.5Submittals
1.5.1Atleast14dayspriortothestartoffabrication,ContractorshallsubmittotheOwner’sRepresentativeforreviewandapprovalthreesetsofshopdrawings,showingallmaterialtypesandgradesaswellasalldimensionsnecessaryforthefabricationandplacingofthereinforcementsteelandaccessories.
1.5.2Atleast14dayspriortocommencinginstallationofcastinplaceconcretefloors,ContractorshallsubmittotheOwner’sRepresentativeforreviewandapproval,locationsofallfloorjoints,includingconstructionjointsandcontroljointsandsequenceofpours.
1.5.3Atleast14dayspriortoconcretemixingandplacing,ContractorshallsubmittotheOwner’sRepresentativeforreviewandapprovalthefollowingdata:
mm)AggregatesourceinformationandcertifiedcopiesofsatisfactorytestresultsbyaCSAcertifiedtestinglaboratory.
nn)Productdataofcementitiousmaterialsandchemicaladmixtures.
oo)Certifiedtestresultsofcompatibilitybetweenthechemicaladmixturesandcementitiousmaterials.
pp)Proposedconcretemixdesignandcertifiedtestresultsoftrialorpreviouslyusedmixdesignsincluding,butnotlimitedto,slump,wetdensity,aircontentandstrengthsat1,3,7and28days.
qq)Proposedconcretemixing,delivery,placing,finishingandcuringmethodsandequipmentinformation.
rr)Proposedconcretecuringandprotectionproceduresforcoldandhotweatherconcreting.
ss)Themanufacturer’sproductdataandinstallationproceduresforjointsealant,epoxy-bondingagent,formpartingagent(formoil),curingcompound,andotherproductstobeusedinconcreteconstruction.
1.5.4ContractorshallsubmittoOwner’sRepresentativeforapprovalallproposedrepairmaterialsandproceduresatleast3dayspriortothecommencementofanyrepairworktotheconcrete.
1.5.5ArecordoftheconcreteworkshallbepreparedandmaintainedbyContractor’sFieldSuperintendentduringtheperiodofconstruction.ThisrecordshallbeforwardedtotheOwner’sRepresentative,atthetimeofthejobcompletion,unlessprovidedotherwise.Therecordshouldcoverthequalityandquantityofconcretematerials,themixingandplacingofconcrete,thegeneralprogressofthework,andthegeneralweatherandairtemperatureduringplacingofconcrete.ConcretedeliveryticketsshallcontaintheinformationrequiredbyCAN/CSAA23.1.Recordsshallbecorrelatedtoconcretetestreports.
2.0TESTINGLABORATORY
2.1General
Anapprovedtestinglaboratory,meetingtherequirementsofCAN/CSAA283shallberetainedbyContractorattheContractor’scosttoperformthefollowingwork:
2.1.1Confirmqualityanddetermineproportionsofmaterials,whichmustbeusedtofurnishconcretehavingtherequiredcompressivestrengthattheageof28days,andotherpropertiesconformingtotherequirementofthisspecification.PriortoplacingofconcreteOwner’sRepresentativeshallapprovefinalmixdesigns.Seven-daycompressiontestsonthetrialmixesshallbeperformedandsubmittedbeforesuchapprovalisgiven.
2.1.2Contractorshalltakeconcretesamplesandmakeaminimumofthreetestcylindersfromeverysample,asdescribedinSection2.1.2.1.1.Eachcylindershallbedated,givenanumber,andthepointinthestructurefromwhichthesamplewastakennotedthereon.TestcylindersshallbemadeatthejobsiteandstoredinaccordancewithCSAA23.2.Thesecylindersshallbetestedasfollows:

uu)Oneat28days;and
vv)ThethirdtobetestedatthediscretionoftheOwner’sRepresentative.
2.1.3Samplesshallbetakenfromeachcompletepourforindividualfoundationsorstructuressupportingmainprocessingunits,heavymechanicalequipment,buildings,storagetanks,andotherimportantstructures,inaccordancewiththefollowingschedule:

2.1.4Contractorshallperformothertestsonconcretedeliveredtothejobsiteincluding,butnotlimitedto,slump,aircontent,andtemperature.
2.1.5Makeroutinelaboratorycompressiontestofconcretetestcylindersandproducetestreports.Testreportsshallshowlocationwherespecimensweretaken,datestaken,ultimatecompressivestrength,aircontent,slump,andremarksoncharacteristicsofcylinder.CopiesofreportsshallbefurnishedtotheOwner’sRepresentative.ThesetestsshallbecarriedinaccordancewithCAN/CSAA23.2.
2.1.6InspectionandfieldtestsshallconformtoCAN/CSAA23.2,andtotheapplicableCSAspecifications
