Inthelatethirteenthcenturypaintingsfirstappearedwithpeoplewearingorholdingeyeglasses.FromthesepaintingsweknowthateyeglasseswereinventedinItaly.Around1300theVenetianGlassmaker'sGuildmadeitillegalforcheapglassestobemade.By1352eyeglasseswereonlywornbywell-educated,richmen.In1456theinventionoftheprintingpressallowedbookstobecomewidespread.Oncepeopleownedbooksreadingglassesbegantobeseeninthehandsofcommonpeople.In1623theSpanishinventedthefirstgradedeyeglasses.

Flushtoilet(抽水马桶)

SirJohnHarrington,godsontoQueenElizabeth,madethefirstflushtoiletforhimselfandhisgodmotherin1596.Hewasteasedbyhisfriendsandnevermadeanotherone.

In1775,AlexanderCummingsreinventedtheflushtoiletmorecommonlycalledthewatercloset.Twoyearslaterin1777SamuelProsserappliedforandreceivedapatent(专利)forit.
