Thankyouforcoming.We’regoingtomakesomehistorytogethertoday.So,welcometoMac-world.Youknow,itwasjustayearagothatIwasuphereandannouncedthatweweregoingtoswitchtoIntelprocessors.Ahuge,hearttransplanttoIntelmicroprocessors.AndIsaidthatwewoulddoitoverthecoming12months.Wediditinsevenmonths,anditwasthe—it’sbeenthesmoothestandmostsuccessfultransitionthatwe’veeverseeninthehistoryofourindustry.Anditwasbecausewemadeabeautiful,seamlessversionofOSXforIntelprocessors.AndourteamcreatedRosettasoftwarewhichletsyourunPower-PCappsontopofOSXonIntelprocessors.OurhardwareteamgottocrankingoutanewMacwithIntelprocessorseverymonth,andwecompletedthistransitioninsevenmonths.Butwedidn’tdothisalone.Wedidthiswiththehelpofalotoffolks.OurnewcolleaguesatIntelreallyhelpedus.Thankyouverymuch.Ourthird-partydevelopersrapidlymovingtheirappstouniversalversionstorunatnativespeedsonIntelprocessors.Thankyouverymuch.Andmostofall,ourusers.Theminuteyousawtheselightning-fastmachines,youbought‘em.Andwe’vehadanextremelysuccessfulyear,andIwanttothankourusersverymuch.

Now,asmanyasyouknow,ourretailstoreshaveforawhilebeensellingoverhalftheirMacstopeoplewhohaveneverownedaMacbefore:

switchers.Well,I’mpleasedtoreportthatnow,intheU.S.,Macssellingthroughallchannels,overhalfofthemaresellingtopeoplewhohaveneverownedaMacbefore.It’snotjustlimitedtoourretailstoresanymore.HalftheMacswe’resellingintheU.S.WearepickinguplotsandlotsofnewmembersoftheMacfamily,andwecouldn’tbehappier.Asamatteroffact,here’sonethatmightbecomingonsoon.JimAllchinatMicrosoftwasquotedrecentlyassayingifhedidn’tworkforMicrosoft,hewouldbuyaMac,andhe’sretiringsoon,soI’vealertedourSeattlestorestokeepaneyeoutforhimandgivehimreallygoodservice.Youknow,Vista’scomingout,andyouknowouradswiththeMacguyandthePCguy,wemadealittleadforVista,andI’dlovetoshowittoyounow,ifyou’dliketoseeit.

So,2007isgoingtobeagreatyearfortheMac.Butthisisallwe’regoingtotalkabouttheMactoday.We’regoingtomoveontosomeotherthingsandoverthecourseofthenextseveralmonthswe’regoingtorolloutsomeawesomestufffortheMac.Butfortoday,we’regoingtomoveon.

So,thefirstthingIliketodoisgiveyouanupdateaboutourmusicbusiness.Asyouknow,we’vegottheiPod,bestmusicplayerintheworld.We’vegottheiPodnanos,brandnewmodels,colorsareback.We’vegottheamazingnewiPodShuffle.TheiPod,inadditiontobeingtheworld’sbestMP3player,hasbecometheworld’smostpopularvideoplayer,andbyalargemargin.TheiPodNanoistheworld’smostpopularMP3player,byawidemargin.Andthenewshuffleistheworld’smostwearableMP3player.Sowehadanincredibleline-upforthisholidayseason,allrefreshedandnewproducts.NowI’dliketotellyouafewthingsaboutiTunesnowthatareprettyexciting.Numberone,wehavecrossedamajormilestone.Wehavesoldover2billionsongsoniTunes.It’samazing.Now,therewasanarticlerecentlythatsaidiTunessaleshadsloweddramatically.Idon’tknowwhatdatathey’relookingat,butthisisourdata,andwhatweseeisiTunessaleswerereallyupthisyear.Ittookusoverthreeyearstogettoabillionsongs.Wegotoursecondbillionin10monthsin2006.Andgrowingoffanover600millionsongbase,wedoubleditin2006.Sowecouldn’tbehappierwiththegrowthrateofiTunesandselling2billionsongs.

Now,wearesellingover5millionsongsadaynow.Isn’tthatunbelievable?

That’s58songseverysecondofeveryminuteofeveryhourofeveryday.Andthelasttimewetalkedtoyou,wesaidthatwewerethe5thlargestmusicresellerintheU.S.NowalltheseotherguyssellmusiconCDs,andofcoursewesellitonline.Butifyouaddupallthemusicthat’ssold,wewerethefifth-largestreseller.BecauseofthegrowthofiTunes,IampleasedtoreportthatwehavenowpassedAmazon.WesellmoremusicthanAmazon,andwearenownumberfour.AndyoucanguesswhoournextTargetmightbe.Sothat’sanupdateformusic.

NowIwanttotalkaboutTVshows.We’vegotawesomeTVshowsoniTunes.Asamatteroffactwehaveover350TVshowsthatyoucanbuyepisodesfromoniTunes.AndI’mverypleasedtoreportthatwehavesoldnow50millionTVshowsoniTunes.Isn’tthatincredible?

Now,letmegoontomovies.Whenwestartedwithtelevisionshows,thepioneeringpartnerwehadwastheWaltDisneyCo.TheydecidedtothrowinwithusandsellTVshows,andboydiditwork.Well,whenwedecidedtosellmovies,theywererightwithusthereagainasourpioneeringpartnertosellmovies.AndIamreallypleasedtoannouncethatinthefirstfourmonthsofsellingmovies,wehavesold1.3millionmoviesoniTunes,whichIthinkhasexceededallofourexpectations.Andtoday,wehaveanewpartnerjoiningtheWaltDisneyCo.tosellmoviesoniTunes,andthatisParamount.We’rethrilledbecausetheyhavesomeawesomemovies.Letmejustshowyouafewofthetitlesherethataregoingupaswespeak.AllsixStarTrekmovies.Sowearegoingtobemovingupfromthehundredmovieswe’veofferedsofartoover250moviesnowofferedoniTunes.Thesearegettingupasfastaswecanoverthenextweekorso.Andwehopetobeaddingevenmoremoviesasotherstudiosthrowinwithusas2006rollson.Sothat’sanupdateoniTunes.

Now,asIsaid,wehadaverystronglineupofmusicplayersforthisholidayseason.Wealwayshavestiffcompetition.That’sjustpartofthisbusiness.Andwehadanewcompetitorthispastholidayseason,whichwas,ofcourse,Microsoft’sZune.Sohow’dtheydo?

Well,wedon’thavedataforDecemberyet,becauseit’snotouttillnextweekortheweekafter,Iforget.ButwehavedataforNovember,whichwastheirlaunchmonth,shouldhavebeenrealbig.Andtheygarnered2percentmarketshare.Twopercentmarketshare.iPodhad62percentmarketshare,andtheresthad36.Again,wedon’thavedataforDecember.WeknowwewentupquiteabitinDecemberintermsofmarketshare.Andwe’llfindouthowtheydid.But2percentintheirlaunchmonth.So,nomatterhowyoutrytospinthis,whatcanyousay?

Sothat’sanupdateonhowwe’redoinginthenewmusicbusiness,andwe’vegotafewnewadsforiPods.Youknow,weworkwithsomeofthegreatestfolkstocreateadvertising.AndtheycreatedthiswonderfuladthatI’dlovetoshowyourightnow,soletmegoaheadandrollit.
