Somescientistshavearguedthatitwastheresultofclimatechangewhileotherssaythatitwasdrivenbypressuresofagrowinghumanpopulation,orevenahugedisasterstrike.AccordingtoProfessorBrianHuntley,“Thechangingclimate,throughtheeffectithadonplants,wasthekeyreasonthatcausedthereductioninthepopulationandfinalextinctionofmammothsandmanyotherlargeherbivores（食草动物）,”hesaid.
