Japanrecentlymadeadecisionthatshockedtheworld.OnApril13,JapanesePrimeMinisterYoshihideSugaannouncedthatthegovernmentwilldumpradioactivewastewater(放射性废水)fromtheFukushimanuclearpowerplant(核电厂)intothePacificOceanintwoyears.

AlthoughtheUSshoweditssupport,ithasbannedimports(进口)offarmingandseafoodproductsfromtheregionforover10yearssincetheFukushimanuclearplantwasdestroyedin2011. 

AnditrecentlyrenewedthebanonMarch4-40daysbeforetheJapanesegovernmentannounceditsdecisiontodumpthewastewater,accordingtotheUSFoodandDrugAdministration(FDA). 

Thebanincludesover100typesoffarmingandfishingproductssuchasmilk,vegetablesandsalmon(三文鱼).“TheFDAandtheJapanesegovernmentwillcontinueto[worktogether]tomakesureproductsfromthe[region]don’tposeahealthrisktoUSconsumers(消费者),”thebannoted.
