可用到的形容词有:

　我宁愿去蓝湖餐厅，因为我吃饭时喜欢听轻柔的音乐。

（1）rather原意为“相当”，为副词如:

It'srathercoldtoday.今天相当冷。

　rather常与would连用，宁可，宁愿，还是……好些　

例:

I'dratherplaytennisthanswim.　我不想游泳，我宁愿去打网球.

8.Theyalsohavetoknowhowtomakemoney.　他们还必须知道如何赚钱。

knowhowtodo其中的不定式带有疑问词。

★knowwhattodo知道做什么。

这一句式可以改为复合句，上句也可为：

　Theyalsohavetoknowhowtheycanmakemoney.

又如：

Pleasetellmewhenweshouldleave.=Pleasetellmewhentoleave.

请告诉我什么时候离开。

9.spendtime（in）doingsth..花时间做某事    spendmoneyonsth..花钱在……方面。

Wespentapleasanthourortwotalkingwithourfriends.    我们和朋友愉快地交谈了一两个小时。

Theyspendalotofmoneyonadvertising.他们在广告上花了大量的钱。

10.Itmakesmewanttojoinaclean-upcampaign.这让我想加入一次清扫大运动。

（1）join加入军队，政党，组织等，成为其中一员。

例如：

Thenextyearhejoinedthearmy.第二年他参了军。

（2）join加入某人，并一起进行某项活动。

例如：

Shejoinedherhusbandinhisstudy.     她与她的丈夫一块从事他的研究。

（3）takepartin“参加某一项活动”，takeanactivepartin积极参加。

例如：

Doyoutakeanactivepartinsports?

你积极参加体育活动吗

11.It’struethatsomeadscanbeveryuseful.一些广告的确很有用。

（1）It’s+adj.+that　其中It是形式主语，代替that引导的主语从句。

例如：

 Itisstrangethathehadmadeamistake.真怪，他竟做错了。

（2）usefuladj.有用的         uselessadj.无用的，无价值的。

 例如：

ausefulidea有用的主意afewuselesssuggestions一些无价值的建议

12.Forinstance，theycanhelpyoutocomparetwodifferentproductssothatyoucanbuytheoneyoureallyneed.　

例如，他们能够帮你比较两种不同的产品，以至于你能买到你真正需要的那个。

compare　比较，对照★compare...with...　把……与……相比

IfwecompareFrenchschoolswithBritishschools，wewillfindmanydifferences.如果我们把法国的学校与英国的学校相比，会发现许多不同之处。

★compare...to...　把……比作……

Thepoetcomparesthewomanhelovestoarose.这位诗人把他所钟情的女人比作玫瑰花。
