“Peopletendtouseemoticonstojustaddthatlittlebitofextrachangeinthetonewhenthere'ssomethingawkwardorpotentiallyoffensive,orwhentheymighttakeinthingsinthewrongway,”explainsLaurenCollister,asociolinguist.Inlifeandwork,manyofushaveusedemoticonstosendpositiveatmosphereorsoftenstatements.
