　　PopularlyknownastheSpanishFlu,thistypeofinfluenzawasfarworsethanyourcommoncold.Normally,influenzaonlykillsthosewhoaremorevulnerabletodisease,suchasnewborns,theoldorthesick.However,theSpanishFluwaspronetokillingtheyoungandhealthy.Oftenitwoulddisableitsvictimsinhours;withinaday,theywouldbedead,typicallyfromextremecasesofpneumonia（肺炎）.

　　TheSpanishFluwasquitenasty-fast-spreadinganddeadly.Itmanagedtospreadacrosstheglobe,devastatingtheworld.Thensuddenly,aftertwoyearsravaging（蹂躏）theEarth,itdisappearedasquicklyasithadarisen.

　　Despiteitsnickname,theSpanishFludidnotoriginateinSpain.Itstrueoriginsareunknown.SomebelieveitstartedinUSfortsandthenspreadtoEuropeasAmericajoinedthewar;othersthinkthatitpopulatedthetrenchesoftheEnglishandtheFrenchandeventuallybrokeoutin1918.Regardlessofwhereitstarted,eventuallyafifthoftheworldpopulationsufferedthedisease,withaglobalmortalityrate（死亡率）estimatedat2.5%ofthepopulation.
