PlotSummary

ThisisthestoryofDex,anover-weight,lazy,32yearoldelementaryschoolteacher’sassistantwholivesinSantaFe,NewMexico,withseveralroommates.Dexisnotwealthyorgood-looking,andgivenhislifeingeneral,mostpeoplewouldthinkhewouldhavelotsoftroublebeingsuccessfulwithwomen.Infact,though,Dexisextremelysuccessful,becauseheisintelligentandphilosophical,andhehasmasteredwhathecalls“Taoistphilosophy”

（Seebelow）.Womenfindhimcharming,andsomefindhimirresistible.

OnedayDexgoestohis10thyearcollegereunion,whereheseesmanyofthewomenhehadsleptwithasastudent,includinganattractivestagedesignernamedSyd.InSyd’scase,though,hedoesn’tremembereverhavingbeenwithher.Still,hefindshimselfinstantlyattracted,andeventhoughheisalreadyhavinganaffairwithBeth（whoismarriedtoEd）,hesoonfindshimselffallinginlove.Ofcourse,thisisverymuchagainsttheTaoistphilosophyhestrictlytriestofollow….
