Therearemanytechniquesthateachspeakercanuseintheirspeechbuttherearethreemainareasthatyouwillbemarkedon.Theyarelanguage,contentanddelivery.

Languageisimportant,ofcourse,sincecontestantsmustbeunderstood.Judgeslookforaccuratepronunciation,enunciationandarticulationaswellastheabilitytovarythepaceandpitchofthevoicewhenspeaking.Thisoftenrequiresspeakerstoslowtheirspeechmorethantheywouldforeverydaylanguage.
Vocabularyusemustbeappropriate,correctandinterestingalthoughitisperhapsbetternottousewordsthatyouhavedifficultypronouncing.Somespeakers'

Asyouspeak,makeacleardivisionbetweenargumentsand/ettheaudienceknowwhenyouaremovingfromoneargumenttothenext,thisiscalledsignpostingandisaveryimportantdebatingtool.Thekeythingtorememberisthatalthoughyouknowexactlywhatyouaresayingtheaudiencehasneverhearditbeforeandwillonlyhearitoncesoyouhavetobeveryclearaboutit.Andwhenyouarepresentingoneparticularargumentmakesurethattheargumentislogical(makessense)andthatyoumakeclearlinksbetweenyourteamlineandtheargument,andbetweentheargumentandtheexamplesthatyouwillusetosupportit.

Eyecontactisverycloselyrelatedtocuecards.Ifyoulookattheaudienceyouwillholdtheirattention.Ifyouspendyourtimereadingfromcuecardsorlookingatapointjustabovetheaudience'

Voice

Refutearguments
Refutationistheprocessofprovingthatanargumentoraseriesofarguments,ortheconclusionsdrawnfromthatargumentorarguments,isfalse,erroneous,oratleastdoubtful.If,forinstance,someonesays,"

Inadebate,effectiverefutationsarekeytosuccess.Refutationshouldbehandledsystematically.Hereareguidelinesthatyoucanfollow:
