Thenine-year-oldracedbackintothehouseandupstairstohismother'sroom.Hefounditimpossibletowakeherup.Mrs.Kreamer,avictimofthesmoke,wasunconscious,andtherewasnobodytohelpGlenncarryhertothegarden.Buttheboyremainedcalmand,asafiremansaidlater,"actedwithalltheself-controlofatrainedadult."

Onthebedroomtelephone,luckilystillworking,Glenncalledhisfatherand,leavingMr.Kreamertotelephonethefirebrigadeandambulanceservice,gotonwiththetaskofsavinghismother.

Firsthefilledabucketwithwaterfromthebathroomandthrewwateroverhismotherandherbed.Then,withawetclotharoundhisheadhewentbacktothegarden.

Hecouldhearthefireenginecomingup,buthowwouldthefiremenfindhismotherinthesmoke-filledhousewhereflameshadalmostswallowedupthegroundfloor?

Third,theremayoccurthedangerofaleak(泄漏)oranexplosionatthepowerstation.Aswiththeothertwodangers,thisisnotverylikely,soitdoesnotprovideaseriousobjectiontothenuclearprogram.However,itcanhappen.
