Thatsomethingisanatomicfurnace93,000,000milesawaythatpoursitsradiationconstantlyonthedaysideoftheturningEarth.Itheatstheair,makesitrise,sucksinotherair,makesitblowonthesailsandcausestheboattobepushed.Soeverysailboatispoweredbyanatomicengine—thesun.

AlthoughthesunisverylargecomparedtotheEarth,itisoneofmyriadstarsinaverylargegalaxy,whichisoneofmyriadgalaxiesinaverylargeuniverse.Butthesunisspecialtousbecauseitisthecloseststar;itholdsusinitsgravitationalgrip.Anditsenergy,rainingdownonthehomeplanet,isutterlynecessaryforthemaintenanceofalllife.

I'veoftenthoughtthatamongthethingshumanshaveelectedtoworshipoverhistoricandprehistoriceras,thesunisthemostappropriatevisibleobject.Sunworshipperswerenottoofaroffthemark.

Forlifetocontinuehere,thesunmustkeeponshining.Scientistssaythatifitdied(unlikelyintheextreme—it'sgoodforanother5billionyears),inlessthantwoweeksnothingwouldmoveontheEarth'ssurface.Nothingwouldremainalive.

Thisiseasilyseenwhenyouthinkabouthowitgetscoolerafterthesungoesdown,andiscoolestjustbeforeitcomesupthenextmorning.Ifit's80degreesFahrenheitatsunsetandgoesdownto60justbeforedawn,theonlyreasonthetemperaturegoesbackupisthatthesunreappearsandstartswarmingthingsupagain.

Inabout10moredays,whenthetemperaturewasclosetoabsolutezero,thegasesoftheatmosphere(nitrogenandoxygen)wouldfreeze,puttingalightsnowofsolidnitrogenontotheground,followedbyafinepowderofoxygen.

TheEarthwouldthenhavenoliquidwater,noatmosphere,andnolife.

Perhapsthesefactsrefutethefoolishsagewhooncesaidthemoonwasmoreimportantthanthesun,becausethemoonshinesatnight,whenweneedthelight,whilethesunshinesinthedaytimewhenwedon'tneedit!

Takealookathowmostchildrenareraised.Atsomepointinthechild'sexistence,someonedecides(orrathermakesajudgment)thatlittleSarahcan'tsing,isclumsy,laughstooloud,orisintelligent,orwhatever.Nomatterwhatthejudgmentis,thesestatementsgetrepeatedinfrontoffriends,family,strangersand,unfortunately,littleSarah.Shethenacceptsthisasherreality...afterallitiscomingfromthemouthofa"godly"parentoradult.

Allofthesestatementsandopinionssupportsomeone'sviewofreality.Whenyoumakeityourownitlocksyouintoamodewhereyouhavecertainfixedexpectations.Theydonotallowroomforchange;andsincelifeisallaboutchange,thesebeliefsleavenoroomformiracles.

Howdoesoneliveeachdayanew?

First,onemustreleaseallpre-conceptionsandbeliefsabouteveryoneandeverything.Beginbylookingatyourselfandthepeopleinyourimmediatesurroundings.Whendealingwithyourself,therearetwothingsyoucanchange—yourbeliefsandyourbehavior.Ifyoubelievethatyouarealwayslate(andwanttochangethat),thenstopsayingthatyouarealwayslate.Whenyoutellyourself"I'malwayslate,"thebodyandmindtakethatasaninstruction.Inthesamefashion,ifyoustartaffirming"I'malwaysontime,"thatistakenasadirectiveandyoursubconsciousandconsciousmindwillworkatcreatingyournewreality.

Soifyouwanttobeabetterperson,startbychangingyourbeliefsandyourexpectations.Thenchangeyouractions.Behavemorelovingly.Expectthebest!

Visualizeyourselfandtheworldasaloving,peaceful,harmoniousplace.It'sallpossible!

Mymotherwasanangel.

Afterthemanleft,Iturnedtomymotherandsaid,"Doyouwantmetowashthatmarkoffthecurb?
