Hi,everybody.Mytopictodayis“ProblemswithOurEducationalSystem”.

Idisagreeonalotofthewaysthatthingshavehappenedforalongtimeinoureducationalsystem.Itseemsthateducatorsjustwanttogivestandardizedtests,whichfocusonlyonacademicperformanceandneglectstudents’abilitiesandinterestinotherareas.Ithinkthere’realotofpeoplewhoareveryintelligent,buthaven’thadtheopportunitiestheycouldhavehadiftheyhadlearnedinabroader-mindededucationalsystems.Ifeelthatalotofcoursesthatstudentsarerequiredtotakeinhighschoolaretooacademic,and,asaresult,manykidshavelosttheirinterestinlearning.

Educatorsoftenfailtorecognizevariouskindsofintelligence.Theysimplyexertalotofpressureonstudentstobeaswell-roundedaspossible.Ithinkbeingwell-roundedisn’treallypossible.AndasaconsequencesomestudentsIbelievetobeintelligentcan’tgetintogoodcollegesifthey,youknow,haven’tscoredwellonthemathsection,eveniftheyarebrilliantwriters.

Thesefourfriendsweresoconfidentthatontheweekendbeforethefinal,theydecidedtogouptotheUniversityofVirginiaandpartywithsomefriendsthere.Theyhadagreattimeanddidn’tmakeitbacktoschooluntilearlyMondaymorning.

Ratherthantakingthefinalthen,theydecidedtofindtheirprofessorafterthefinalandexplaintohimwhytheymissedit.Theyexplainedthattheyhadplannedtocomebackintimeforthefinalexam,but,unfortunately,theyhadaflattireonthewaybackanddidn’thaveaspare.Asaresult,theymissedthefinal.

Theprofessorthoughtitoverandthenagreedtheycouldmakeupthefinalthefollowingday.Theguyswererelievedandelated.Thenextday,theprofessorplacedtheminseparateroom,handedeachofthemapaper,andtoldthemtobegin.
