ThismanualcontainstheinformationconcerningtheinstallationandoperationofLiebert®

ITA16kVAand20kVAUPS(hereinafterreferredtoasUPS).

Pleasecarefullyreadthismanualpriortoinstallation.

TheUPSmustbeinstalled,commissionedandservicedbyengineersdesignatedbythemanufactureroritsagent.Failuretoobservethiscouldresultinpersonnelsafetyrisk,UPSmalfunctionandinvalidationofwarranty.

TheUPShasbeendesignedforcommercialandindustrialuseonly,andisnotrecommendedforuseinlifesupportapplications.

ThisisaClassAUPSproduct.Inaresidentialenvironment,thisproductmayneverthelesscauseradiointerference,inwhichcase,theuserisrequiredtotakeadditionalmeasurestoreducetheinterference.

Warning

1.Beforemovingorre-wiringtheUPS,disconnectalltheinputsandmakesurethattheUPSiscompletelyshutdown.Orelse,theoutputendmaycarrylivevoltage.

2.LiquidorotherirrelevantexternalobjectsareprohibitedinsidetheUPS.

3.Incaseofafire,adrychemicalfireextinguisherisessential.Usingafoamfireextinguisherwillcauseelectricshock.

4.TheoutputneutrallineoftheUPSisfromtheinput,aftertheneutrallineissuspendedbytheupstreamprotectiondevices,theoutputneutrallinewillbeunconnected.

TheUPScomplieswith2006/95/EC(LVSafety)and2004/108/EC(EMC),withAustraliaandNewZealandEMCFramework(C-Tick)andwiththefollowingproductstandardsforUPS:

Performancerequirementsandtestmethods

TheUPSinstallationshouldfollowtheaboveinstructionsandusetheaccessoriesspecifiedbymanufacturer.

1.Earthconnectionisessentialbeforeconnectingtheinputpower(ACmainsandbatteryincluded).

2.Earthleakagecurrentrangesfrom3.5mAto1000mA.

3.Transientandsteady-stateearthleakagecurrents,whichmayoccurwhenstartingtheequipment,shouldbetakenintoaccountwhenselectinginstantaneousresidualcurrentcircuitbreaker(RCCB)orresidualcurrentdetector(RCD).

4.NotethattheearthleakagecurrentoftheloadwillbecarriedbyRCCBorRCD.

5.Thisequipmentmustbeearthedinaccordancewiththelocalelectricalcodes.

TheUPShasazero-voltagecontactclosuresignalavailableforusewithanexternalautomaticcircuitbreaker(singlepower),toprotectagainstbackfeedingvoltagetoinputterminalthroughthestaticbypasscircuit.Namely,beforeoperatingthecircuit,isolatetheUPSfirstly,andthencheckthedangerousvoltagebetweentheports,andthatbetweentheportsandearth.

Maintainablecomponents

1.Allinternalmaintenanceandservicingproceduresoftheequipmentshouldbecarriedoutonlybytrainedpersonnel.Componentsbehindtheprotectivecoverwhichcanonlyberemovedbyusingatoolarerestrictedtoservicepersonnel.

2.TheUPSmeetsthesafetyrequirementscompletelyinoperatoraccessarea.OnlyservicepersonnelcancontactwiththehazardousvoltageinsidetheUPS.However,theriskofcontactingthesevoltagesisminimizedbecausethecomponentswithhazardousvoltagemaybecontactedonlybyusingatooltoremovetheprotectivecover.Noriskwillexistifyoufollowthegeneralnormsandinaccordancewiththeproceduresrecommendedinthismanualonequipmentoperation.

1.Allthephysicalserviceandmaintenanceofthebatteryareperformedbythetrainedtechnicians.

2.Operationonthebatterywillresultinelectricshockandhighshort-circuitcurrent,therefore,beforeoperatingthebattery,thefollowingshouldbeobserved:

●Removethewatches,ringsandothermetalobjects.

●Usethetoolswithinsulationhandle.

●Wearerubbergloveandshoes.

●Avoidtoplacethetoolsandmetalobjectsonthebatterysurface.

●Cutoffthechargepowersupplybeforeconnectingordisconnectingthebatteryterminals.

●Checkwhetherthebatteryisearthedaccidently,ifyes,pleasedisconnecttheearthing.Contactinganyearthbatterypartswillresultinelectricshock.Therefore,makesurethatthebatteryisnotearthedduringinstallationandmaintenance.

3.Batterymanufacturersprovidethedetailsoftheprecautionstobeobservedwhenworkingon,orinthevicinityofthebatterys.Theseprecautionsshouldbefollowedimplicitlyatalltimes.Attentionshouldbepaidtotherecommendationsconcerninglocalenvironmentalconditionsandtheprovisionofprotectiveclothing,firstaidandfire-fightingfacilities.

ITA16kVAand20kVAUPS(UPSforshort)isanintelligentonlineUPSsystemwithsinewaveoutputdevelopedbyEmersonNetworkPowerCo.,Ltd.TheUPSoffersreliableandhighqualityACpowertotheprecisioninstrument.

TheUPSadoptsmodulardesign,andrack/towerinstallationcanbeuseddependingonyourrequirements.ItisapplicabletosupplyingACpowertosmallscalecomputercenter,network,communicationsystem,automaticcontrolsystemandprecisioninstrument.

Thischapterintroducesthefeatures,modelconfigurations,appearanceandcomponents,operatingprinciple,UPSstateandoperationmode,andspecificationsoftheUPS.

1.4OperatingPrinciple

TheoperatingprincipleoftheUPSisshowninFigure1-4.

1.TheUPSiscomposedofmainsinput(mainandbypass),I/Ofilter,rectifier/PFC,charger,inverter,bypass,battery,DSPcontroller,auxiliarypowerandUPSoutput.

2.Whenthemainsisnormal,therectifierwillstart,andthechargerwillchargethebatterystring.BeforeturningontheUPS,theoutputvoltageisthebypassvoltage,andthemainssuppliespowertotheloadthroughthebypass.AfterturningontheUPS,theelectronictransferswitchconnectstheinverteroutputtotheload,andthemainssuppliesDCpowertotheinverterthroughtherectifier/PFCcircuit.TheinverterthenconvertsDCpowerintopuresinewaveACpower,andsuppliestheACpowertotheloadthroughtheelectronictransferswitch.

3.Whenthemainsisabnormal,therectifier/PFCcircuitbooststhebatteryvoltageandsuppliesittotheinverter.TheinverterthenconvertsitintopuresinewaveACpower,andsuppliestheACpowertotheloadthroughtheelectronictransferswitch.

4.Afterthemainsreturnstonormalstate,theUPSwillautomaticallytransferfromBatterymodetoNormalmode,themainssuppliesDCpowertotheinverterthroughtherectifier/PF
