Abstract:

WhenChineselearnersareintheacquisitionofEnglish,mothertongueandmotherculturecannotonlyproducepositivetransferbutalsonegativetransfer.ThepositivetransfercanpromoteEnglishlearningwhilenegativetransferwillbringobstacles,andevenleadtothephenomenonofChinglish.Thedifferencesofsocialandculturalvalues,traditionsandcustoms,languageandmannersallplaynegativerolesinlearningasecondlanguage.

Thispaperwillanalyzethetransferofsocialculture,causesandmanifestations,andexploretheimpactonChinese-styleEnglishsoastoavoidnegativetransferandhelpChina'sEnglishlearnersachievegreaterprogressinEnglishlearning.

1Introduction

Incross-culturalcommunication,aspeoplelackofunderstandingofculturaltraditionsoftargetlanguage,oraspeoplefromdifferentculturalbackgroundenjoydifferentwaysorconventions.intheofprocessinterpersonalcommunicationpeoplefollowtheirownculturaltraditionsandnativeexpressionmodestoexpresstheirthoughtsandfeelings,andthisinevitablycausesthecultureofmigration.Migrationisthemothertongueofthefeaturesweretransferredtoasecondlanguage.culturaltransferisaveryimportantphenominoninCross-culturalcommunication,whichnotonlydirectlyaffectsthecommunicationofresults,butalsoitcan’tbeignoredsometimesleadtocommunicationbreakdownandconflicts,isinthecommunicationprocess.

2Chinglish

2.1Definition

ChinglishreferstospokenorwrittenEnglishwhichislanguageinfluencedbythechineselanguage.Theterm"Chinglish"iscommonlyappliedtoungrammaticalornonsensicalEnglishinChinesecontexts,andmayhavepejorativeordeprecateconnotations.Othertermsusedtodescribedthephenomenoninclude"ChineseEnglish","ChinaEnglish",and"SinicizedEnglish".ThedegreetowhichaChinesevarietyofEnglishexistsorcanbeconsideredlegitimateisdisputed.

2.2reason

Becauseofcross-culturalcommunicationinthelanguageoftheexistingculturaldifference,differentwaysofthinking,differentlanguagehabits,andmanyothercauseforEnglishlearners'uniqueChinglishphenomenon,someseesnoobviousmistake,butwiththerelations,style,andrhetoricofthetunnels,thetotalissawataglancethatisnotauthentic.ChinesestyleEnglishlanguagehavefewreasons,Englishlearnersvulnerabletotheinfluenceofthemothertonguesaidsomenotgrammarruleswronglanguage,thisisbecauseofitsownlanguageandEnglishlanguagelogicisnotthesame.ButIthinkthemostimportantthingisthepronunciation,vocabularyandgrammar.

2.2.1Pronunciation

Differentindividualororganization,canusedifferentmethodforexampleaword.This,accordingtothedifferentfactors,suchas:

theygrowplace,lifeplace,Chinesephoneticshasnolength.Beginnerscan'tdistinguishtheChineseusually[a]andtheEnglishlanguage[a:

],juststartedtolearnEnglish,sometimesmanystudentsfeeldistinguishpinyinandEnglishlettersisdifficult.Somewordsareoftenexchangeormixedforthesameword,itisbecausetwowordforthesamepronunciation,suchas"temple"and"temper".Sometimes,oneEnglishwordwasnotthecorrectpronunciation,maybeawiththeoriginalpronunciationcompletelydifferentChinesestyleEnglishpronunciation,suchas"Zellers"Company(Hudson'sBayCompanyofa)intoa"SeLa",orEnglishname,suchasAllen,Ellen,AileenandShirley,Shelly,Cherry

"ItomorrowgotoShanghai"or"Ithismorningeatbreakfast."inaddition,tocount/anuncountablenoun,pluralformofusage,"howmuch,""howmany","alotof","much",and"many"oftheusage,aremoremixed.Theseleadtocommonmistakessuchas"Hehasmanymoney","Iwantasoup"and"Therearealotofshoe."

2.2.3Realexamples

Totakenoticeofsafe:

Theslipperyareverycrafty.=Becareful,slipperyslopes.(Becarefulonslippery.)

Smokingisprohibitedifyouwillbefined50yuan.(literalmeaning:

ifyoua$50wordsSmokingnotallowed.)=Smokingisprohibited,penaltiesforviolatorsis50yuan.(donotsmoke,violatorswillbefined$50.)

3Social-culturaltransfer

Underthetrendofglobalization,cultureisbecominga“meltingpot”,sothepurposeforEnglishlearnerstostudyalanguageistocommunicatewithothersfreelyandcorrectly.Asuccessfulcommunicationnotonlyrequiresagoodmasteryofforeignlanguage,butalsotheknowledgeofthedifferencesofdifferentculturesandthepracticeoftheknowledge.Therefore,thecorrespondingcultureoflanguageiswhatthelearnersshouldlearniftheywanttostudyalanguage.Next,wewilldiscussculturetransferwhichplaysanimportantroleinboththeforeignlanguagestudyandthelanguageitself.

3.1Definition

ThemostwidelyuseddefinitionistheoneproposedbyOdlin(1989):

transferistheinfluenceresultingfromsimilaritiesanddissimilaritiesbetweenthetargetlanguageandanyotherlanguagethathasbeenpreviouslyacquired.Theacademiccultureisdividedintotwolevelsofculture,thesurfacedofmaterialcultureandthedeepofspiritualculture.Thedifferencesbetweenlevelsofculturalwillinevitablyleadtodifferentlevelsofculturalmigration.Accordingtotheconceptionsofcultureandthedistinguishingofsurface-structureanddeep-structureofculturediscussedabove,culturaltransfercanbedividedintotwolayers:

surfacdstructuretransferanddeepstructuretransfer.Theformercoversthetransfertakingplaceinthefirsttwodimensionsofculture,thatissocialcultureconcernedwithsystems,law,politics,art,etc.,andmaterialculture.Andthelatterattheideologicalorpsychologicallayerofculture,thatiscloselyrelatedtoviewpointofculturalvalues,wayofthinking,culturalnorms,rules,etc.

3.2Effectsofsocial-culturaltransfer

Accordingtothisdefinitionoftransfer,culturaltransferreferstotheculturalinfluenceresultingfromsimilaritiesanddissimilaritiesbetweenthetargetcultureandanyotherculturethathasbeenpreviouslyacquired.Culturaltransferoccurswhenpeoplefromoneculturesubconsciouslyusetheirownculturalblueprintsandvalueperspectivestoconducttheirownbehaviorsandthoughtsininterculturalcommunication,andalsousethesamenormorvaluesascriteriatojudgeothers’behaviorandthoughtwhoseculturalperceptionandpatternsarequitedifferentfromtheirown.Ithinkthatsocial-culturetransferimpactofEnglishmainlyfocusedonvocabulary,culturecustomsandvaluesystem.

3.2.1Vocabulary

Generallyspeaking,Englishwordshavetheflexibility,rangeofmeaningsiswide,richandvaried,Englishhasthecharacteristicsofpolysemy.AsaresultofdifferenceproductionmethodsandhabitsofmindinEnglish,theywillhavedifferentassociationsthesameconcept,Thesamemeaningusingadifferentmetaphortorefertothebody.

ThefunctionoflanguageisuniversalinCommunication,buttheculturaldifferencesbetweensocialgroupscreategreatdifferencesoflanguageuse,italsobringalotofdifficultiesincommunicationbetweendifferentcultures.Englishalsohasarichcultural,especiallyidioms,andmosthadtheclassicsource.forexample;Pandora’sboxmeansthecriticalcausesofthedisaster.TheswordofDamoclesmeanstheriskkeepinwealth,swansongmeansamasterpieceofaartistbeforedeathorslastperformanceofaartist.andt
