1.0Purpose

Thepurposeofthistestplanistodescribetheenvironmentaiandfunctionalperformaneerequirementstowhichthespeakerwillundergoinordertobevalidated.Theintentofthevalidationprogramistoexposethespeakertoanacceleratedagingprocess.

2.0TestPlan

Thistestplandetailsthetypeoftestsandthenumberofunitsrequiredforeach.ThesamplesizeoutlinedbelowmaychangedependingonReliabilityTarget.

2.1TestImplementation

Thefullqualificationtestprogramconsistsofthegroupslistedbelow.Thisisaparalleltestsequeneesuchthateachgroupisrunindependently.Thistestplanmustbeperformedonatleastonememberofa“ProductFamily”.Themostcomplexorhighestpowermodelshouldbechosen

3.0StandardTestConditions

3.0.1SignalSource

Uniessotherwisespecified,alltestsshallbeconductedwiththeAudioSignal

Generator/Amplifieroutputconfiguredtobebalaneed,lessthanorequalto50-ohmsourceimpedanee,andfloating.ThesignalsourceGNDshallbeconnectedtothespeakerPWRGNDatthespeaker.

3.0.2Position

Unlessotherwisespecified,thespeakershallmeetallrequirementsinthe“nor

position”.ItisdefinedontheProductSpecificationastothehorizontalorverticalpositionofthemountingsurface.

3.0.3RoomTemperature

Unlessotherwisespecified,allmeasurementsshallbemadeatroomtemperature.Roomtemperatureisspecifiedas2

3.0.4FrequencyRange

Thefrequencyrangeisspecifiedfromthe-3dBpointattheupperandloweroperatingrangeofthedriver.ThisrangeandthelimitswithinthatrangeshallspecifiedontheProductSpecification.

3.0.5Noise

Theproductsaredividedintothreegroups,fullrange(multi-element),mid-bass,andsubwoofer.ThetypeofproductshallbespecifiedontheProductSpecification.

FullRangewillusetrack13ontheCarAudioTestDiscVersion2.0:

IECnoisewithacrestfactorof9dB.

Mid-basswillusetrack14ontheCarAudioTestDiscVersion2.0:

adecadeofpinknoise,50to500Hz(-3dBpoints)12dBslopes,withacrestfactorof9dB.

Sub-wooferwillusetrack15ontheCarAudioTestDiscVersion2.0:

adecadeofpinknoise,30to300Hz(-3dBpoints),12dBslopes,withacrestfactorof9dB.

3.0.6MusicSignal

Theproductsaredividedintotwogroups:

1)fullrange(multi-element)andmid-bass,2)subwoofer.ThetypeofproductshallbespecifiedontheProductSpecification.

4.0FunctionalRequirements

FunctionalrequirementsaretobetestedinaccordaneewithanHCGapprovedproductengineeringspecification(ETS).

4.0.1Polarization

WiththedriverfacedownandtheterminalfacingtowardyoutheProductSpecificationshallidentifythepositiveterminal,whichshallbelabeledPin1or“+”.Whenapos

isappliedtothepositiveterminal,theconeshallmoveoutwardfromthebasketproducingpositivepressure.

4.0.2DCResistance

Ensurethatthetestleadresistaneeisfactoredoutofthismeasurement.ConnectthetestleadstothespeakerandmeasuretheresistaneeinohmswithanaveragingohmmetertoensurethatambientnoiselevelsdonotproduceanEMFatthemeteryieldingfalseresistancereadings.TheDCRshallbewithinthelimitsspecifiedontheProductSpecification.

4.0.3Impedance

Rigidlysuspendthespeakerfromthemotorstructureinfreeairatleast50cmfromthenearestreflectingsurface.Mountingmeansmustbeminimalinbulksuchthattheairmovementduringtestingissubstantiallyunrestricted.

MeasurethedeviationfromtheReferenceSampleSpeakerimpedanceateachofthedefinedfrequencies.ThedeviationatallfrequenciesshallbewithinthelimitsspecifiedontheProductSpecification.

4.0.4FrequencyResponse

Applyasteppedsinewavesweepor©aneticssignaloverthespecifiedfrequencyrange,usingthespecifiedfrequencyspacing,withthespecifiedbandwidthsmoothingpertheProductSpecification,andanalyzethemicrophoneoutput.Calibratethemeasurementsystemtodisplaythe1Watt1MeterequivalentsensitivitybasedonZomasspecifiedontheProductSpecification.DisplaytheSPLandtheFrequencyinISOstandard25dB/decadeaspectratio.Theresultantgraphofamplitudevs.frequencyisdefinedasthefrequencyresponse.MeasurethedeviationfromtheReferenceSampleSpeakersoundpressurelevelateachofthedefinedfrequencybands.ThedeviationatallfrequenciesshallbewithinthelimitsspecifiedontheProductSpecification.

ToverifythatnodamagehasoccurredtotheRefereneeSampleSpeakerandthatthetestequipmentisfunctioningproperly,thefirstprocessshallbetotesttheRefereneeSampleSpeakeragainstthestoreddatafromthepreviousproductionruns.Ifthereisachangeofmorethanonestandarddeviationatanyfrequency,boththeRefereneeSampleSpeakerandtestequipmentshallbere-calibrated.

4.0.5ExtraneousNoise

Thespeakerassemblyshallnotproduceextraneousnoisewhenadynamictestisperformed.

Thefollowingtypesofdeficienciesaresometypicalcausesofextraneousnoise:

Buzz:

Anynoiseproducedbyaloosenessofcomponentsvibratingagainstothercomponents.

Rub:

Anynoiseproducedbythevoicecoilslidingorrubbingagainstothercomponents.Bottoming:

Thenoiseproducedbythecontactofthemovingsystemwiththespeakerstructure.

Rattle:

Therandomnoiseproducedbyanobjecttrappedwithinthespeakerstrikingmovingcomponentsoranyintermittentnoisecausedbylooseelectricalconnectionsorcontrols.

FrozenCoil:

Abseneeoffreeexcursioncausedbyadhesiveinthemagneticgaporanoffset(loose)componentofmagneticcircuit.

AirNoise:

Thenoiseproducedbyhighvelocityairflowthroughasmallleak.

5.0QualificationTesting

Thereliabilitytargetforallcarspeakerproductsiszerodefectsat50,000milesoperation.Successfulcompletionofthetestisintendedtodemonstrate90%reliabilitywith90%confidenee.

5.1LifeCycle

Eachspeakershallwithstand5cycles(totaling215hours)oftheenvironmentaleonditionsoutlinedbelow.Thespeakersshouldbecheckedonceadayonaregularbasis.Afullfunctionaltestshouldbeperformedonallunitsattheendofthesecondandfifthcycles.

5.1.1LifeCycleCalibration

ThesuppliedCarAudioTestDiscVersion2.0facilitatesaccuratetestlevelcalibrationandtestingeonsistencybyincorporatingsinewavetesttones(firstthreetracks)thatarecalibratedtothemusictracksspecifiedfortesting.
