WhitcombJudsonwasaninventor.Hehadafriendwhohadasoreback.Judson’sfriendcouldn’tbendovertotiehisshoes.Inordertohelphisfriendout,Judsondesignedwhathecalleda“clasplocker”forhim,basicallyaslidefastenerthatcouldbeopenedandclosedwithonehand.Hepatented(取得专利权)theideain1891.Eventhoughhestartedhisowncompanytomaketheclasplocker,Judsondidn’tmakehisinventionfamous.
