Statesandorganizationsbeganlobbying(游说)CongresstodeclareanannualFather’sDay.In1916,PresidentWoodrowWilsonapprovedofthisidea,butitwasnotuntil1924thatPresidentCalvinCoolidgemadeitanationaleventto“establishmoreintimaterelationsbetweenfathersandtheirchildrenandtoimpressuponfathersthefullmeasureoftheirobligations”.Sincethen,fathershadbeenhonouredandrecognizedbytheirfamiliesthroughoutthecountryonthethirdSundayinJune.
