Abstract—TheseinstructionsgiveyouguidelinesforpreparingpapersforIEEETRANSACTIONSandJOURNALS.UsethisdocumentasatemplateifyouareusingMicrosoftWord6.0orlater.Otherwise,usethisdocumentasaninstructionset.TheelectronicfileofyourpaperwillbeformattedfurtheratIEEE.Defineallsymbolsusedintheabstract.Donotcitereferencesintheabstract.Donotdeletetheblanklineimmediatelyabovetheabstract;itsetsthefootnoteatthebottomofthiscolumn.

ToinsertimagesinWord,positionthecursorattheinsertionpointandeitheruseInsert|Picture|FromFileorcopytheimagetotheWindowsclipboardandthenEdit|PasteSpecial|Picture（with“Floatovertext”unchecked）.

IEEEwilldothefinalformattingofyourpaper.Ifyourpaperisintendedforaconference,pleaseobservetheconferencepagelimits.

II.ProcedureforPaperSubmission

A.ReviewStage

Pleasecheckwithyoureditoronwhethertosubmityourmanuscriptbyhardcopyorelectronicallyforreview.Ifhardcopy,submitphotocopiessuchthatonlyonecolumnappearsperpage.Thiswillgiveyourrefereesplentyofroomtowritecomments.Sendthenumberofcopiesspecifiedbyyoureditor（typicallyfour）.Ifsubmittedelectronically,findoutifyoureditorpreferssubmissionsondiskorase-mailattachments.

Ifyouwanttosubmityourfilewithonecolumnelectronically,pleasedothefollowing:

--First,clickontheViewmenuandchoosePrintLayout.

--Second,placeyourcursorinthefirstparagraph.GototheFormatmenu,chooseColumns,chooseonecolumnLayout,andchoose“applytowholedocument”fromthedropdownmenu.

--Third,clickanddragtherightmarginbartojustover4inchesinwidth.

Thegraphicswillstayinthe“second”column,butyoucandragthemtothefirstcolumn.Makethegraphicwidertopushoutanytextthatmaytrytofillinnexttothegraphic.

B.FinalStage

Whenyousubmityourfinalversion,afteryourpaperhasbeenaccepted,printitintwo-columnformat,includingfiguresandtables.Sendthreeprintsofthepaper;twowillgotoIEEEandonewillberetainedbytheEditor-in-Chieforconferencepublicationschair.

Youmustalsosendyourfinalmanuscriptonadisk,whichIEEEwillusetoprepareyourpaperforpublication.Writetheauthors’namesonthedisklabel.IfyouareusingaMacintosh,pleasesaveyourfileonaPCformatteddisk,ifpossible.YoumayuseZiporCD-ROMdisksforlargefiles,orcompressfilesusingCompress,Pkzip,Stuffit,orGzip.

Alsosendasheetofpaperwithcompletecontactinformationforallauthors.Includefullmailingaddresses,telephonenumbers,faxnumbers,ande-mailaddresses.Thisinformationwillbeusedtosendeachauthoracomplimentarycopyofthejournalinwhichthepaperappears.Inaddition,designateoneauthorasthe“correspondingauthor.”Thisistheauthortowhomproofsofthepaperwillbesent.Proofsaresenttothecorrespondingauthoronly.

C.Figures

Alltablesandfigureswillbeprocessedasimages.However,IEEEcannotextractthetablesandfiguresembeddedinyourdocument.（Thefiguresandtablesyouinsertinyourdocumentareonlytohelpyougaugethesizeofyourpaper,fortheconvenienceofthereferees,andtomakeiteasyforyoutodistributepreprints.）Therefore,submit,onseparatesheetsofpaper,enlargedversionsofthetablesandfiguresthatappearinyourdocument.ThesearetheimagesIEEEwillscanandpublishwithyourpaper.

D.ElectronicImageFiles（Optional）

Youwillhavethegreatestcontrolovertheappearanceofyourfiguresifyouareabletoprepareelectronicimagefiles.Ifyoudonothavetherequiredcomputerskills,justsubmitpaperprintsasdescribedaboveandskipthissection.

1）EasiestWay:

Ifyouhaveascanner,thebestandquickestwaytopreparenoncolorfigurefilesistoprintyourtablesandfiguresonpaperexactlyasyouwantthemtoappear,scanthem,andthensavethemtoafileinPostScript（PS）orEncapsulatedPostScript（EPS）formats.Useaseparatefileforeachimage.Filenamesshouldbeoftheform“fig1.ps”or“fig2.eps.”

2）SlightlyHarderWay:

Usingascannerasabove,savetheimagesinTIFFformat.High-contrastlinefiguresandtablesshouldbepreparedwith600dpiresolutionandsavedwithnocompression,1bitperpixel（monochrome）,withfilenamesoftheform“fig3.tif”or“table1.tif.”Toobtaina3.45-infigure（one-columnwidth）at600dpi,thefigurerequiresahorizontalsizeof2070pixels.Typicalfilesizeswillbeontheorderof0.5MB.

Photographsandgrayscalefiguresshouldbepreparedwith220dpiresolutionandsavedwithnocompression,8bitsperpixel（grayscale）.Toobtaina3.45-infigure（one-columnwidth）at220dpi,thefigureshouldhaveahorizontalsizeof759pixels.

Colorfiguresshouldbepreparedwith400dpiresolutionandsavedwithnocompression,8bitsperpixel（paletteor256color）.Toobtaina3.45-infigure（onecolumnwidth）at400dpi,thefigureshouldhaveahorizontalsizeof1380pixels.

3）SomewhatHarderWay:

Ifyoudonothaveascanner,youmaycreatenoncolorPostScriptfiguresby“printing”themtofiles.First,downloadaPostScriptprinterdriverfrom（forWindows）orfrompdrvmac.htm（forMacintosh）andinstallthe“GenericPostScriptPrinter”definition.InWord,pasteyourfigureintoanewdocument.PrinttoafileusingthePostScriptprinterdriver.Filenamesshouldbeoftheform“fig5.ps.”UseAdobeType1fontswhencreatingyourfigures,ifpossible.

4）OtherWays:

ExperiencedcomputeruserscanconvertfiguresandtablesfromtheiroriginalformattoTIFF.SomeusefulimageconvertersareAdobePhotoshop,CorelDraw,andMicrosoftPhotoEditor,anapplicationthatispartofMicrosoftOffice97andOffice2000（lookforC:

\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\MicrosoftShared\PhotoEd\PHOTOED.EXE.（Youmayhavetocustom-installPhotoEditorfromyouroriginalOfficedisk.）

HereisawaytomakeTIFFimagefilesoftables.First,createyourtableinWord.Usehorizontallinesbutnoverticallines.Hidegridlines（Table|HideGridlines）.Spellcheckthetabletoremoveanyredunderlinesthatindicatespellingerrors.Adjustmagnification（View|Zoom）suchthatyoucanviewtheentiretableatmaximumareawhenyouselectView|FullScreen.Movethecursorsothatitisoutoftheway.Press“PrintScreen”onyourkeyboard;thiscopiesthescreenimagetotheWindowsclipboard.OpenMicrosoftPhotoEditorandclick
