TylerwasthefirstdirectoroftheCenterforAdvancedStudyintheBehavioralSciencesatStanford,apositionheheldforfourteenyears.There,hefirmlybelievedthatresearchersshouldbefreetoseekanindependent(独立的)spiritintheirwork.
