Hewenttohisradioandmadeacallthatreallybegantoworryus.IlaysoclosethatIcouldheareveryword.Hecalledforthe“armedpolice”anda“dogteam,bettermakeittwo”andhehada“serioussituation”atBlueGumCorner.Thenthepoliceofficerarrived.Afterabriefingfromthetrafficofficerhedecidednottogointothefielduntilarmedpoliceanddogteamsarrived.Nowtwospotlightswereonthefieldandnoneofuscouldmove.

Asluckwouldhaveit,policecarscannotleavetheirspotlightsonallnightwithoutchargingtheirbatteries.So,afteratime,thetwoofficersbeganlighteningthefieldbyturns,allowingustheopportunitytomoveonourfoursforfreedom.Onebyone,weallmanagedtostealawayandmakeourwayhome.Behindusweleftwhatmusthavelookedlikeasmallcityoflights,policecars,roadblocks,barkingdogs,armedofficersandanoldropehangingfromatree.
