NowIamintheprisoncafeteria.WhileIhavebeeninstructednottospeak

withanyoftheprisoners,Iamallowedtoobservethemwhiletheyareeating.

Thecafeteriahastenlongtableswithtwentywomenseatedaroundeachone

onlowuncomfortable-lookingwoodenbenches.Themenuforlunchtoday

ascoopofgray,lumpymashedpotatoes,asmallpiece

ofovercookedchicken,andahunkofstale-lookingbread.Freshfruitand

vegetablesarenowheretobeseen.Needlesstosay,thereisnosalt,pepper,or

othercondimentsavailabletothewomen,andtheyarenotpermittedtouse

knivesorforks.Wateristheonlybeverageavailable.Itissafetosaythatthe

focalbeingservedisnothealthy,andIwonderhowthesewomenareableto

maintaintheirstrengthandhealth.
