1.Objectives

ThismoduledescribesthefunctionsoftheBSC,it’scapacityandconfiguration.Ideallyafterstudyingthismaterialyoushouldbeableto:

-GivenaBSSnetworkexampledesignanAbis-Interfacestructureforit(BSSexercise)

-CalculatethecapacityrequiredwithintheBSCtoservethisexample(BSSexercise)

-Calculatethenumberof2Mbit/slinksintheA-andAter-Interfacesforthisexamplenetwork.(BSSexercise)

FrequencyhoppingimprovesBTS-MSlinkquality.TherearethreedifferentpossibilitiesforFrequencyhopping:

Nofrequencyhopping,BasebandfrequencyandSynthesizerhopping.

Nofrequencyhopping

-IntheBTS,BBM-PartofTRX1ispermanentlyconnectedtoRF-PartofTRX1.BBM-PartofTRX2ispermanentlyconnectedtoRF-PartofTRX2.ThefrequenciesofTRX´sarefixed.

Thedigital(baseband)andanalogue(RF)partsofaTRXareseparatedfromeachother.

ABusisusedtoconnectandcross-switchthebasebandandradiopartsofthetransceivers.

Hoppingsequencecanbe:
