doubledandtheaverageageofaphysicistisnow31.

Thestereotypeoftheabsent-mindedscientisthaslastedalongtimebecausethemediaand

Hollywoodhelppromotetheimageofmeninwhitelabcoatswithglassessittingbyblackboards

fullofequations(等式)orworkingwithfizzing(嘶嘶响)testtubes.Thesestereotypesarereally

damagingtosociety.Verygoodschoolchildrenareputoffstudyingsciencebecausetheydon’t

seepeoplelikethemselvesontelevisionorinmagazinesdoingscience.Theysimplydon’trelate

tothemedia’simageofthemadscientist.

Thisisonereasonwhyfeweryoungpeoplearechoosingtodoscienceatuniversity.Ifwe

wanttoencouragemoreyoungpeopletostudysciencesubjects,weneedtochangethisimageof

thescientistandmakesciencecareersmoreattractive.Butwemustalsodevelopchildren’s

interestinscience.

Inanattempttochangethisnegativeimage,anincreasingnumberofsciencefestivalsare
