both…and….连接的必须是同类的句法单位,如前后都是名词或短语。
both…and….连接两个主语时,谓语动词要用复数形式。
记住:
both…and…只用于肯定句,不用于否定句。

7.beatvt.&vi.(beat,beaten;beating)
beat表示“击败”之意时,其宾语必须是“人”或“一个集体”。
1)打,敲:

3)(脉,心)跳动:

[注意]如果表示“打”身体某一部位,常用“主语+谓语(beat)+sb.+介词(on,in,at等)+the+身体某一部位”的结构。
[辨析]1)beat&hit
*beat着重“连续不断地击打”,如殴打或体罚。

*hit指“打中”或“对准……来打”,着重敲打或打击对方的某一点

2)beat&win
win后只能跟类似于agame,awar,aprize等之类的名词作宾语;beat的宾语一般是表示人的名词。

[辨析]care&mind
都有“在乎,在意”的意思,但用法不同。
*mind用在肯定句中意为“当心,注意”;用于疑问句或否定句中,本身有否定之意,意为“反对,介意;不喜欢”,后接动名词。

*care多用于否定句和疑问句中,作不及物动词时可构成许多词组。
如careabout“在乎,关心”carefor“喜欢,想要;照顾“等。
用作及物动词,后面可接从句,意为“关心,在乎”。

这几个词都可用作连系动词,表示“变化”之意,后接形容词、名词作表语。

*get表示短时间内情况的变化,如天气,身体,情绪等。

*turn常指改变性质、状况、颜色等,后接名词作表语时,名词前不加冠词。

alive为表语形容词,既可指人,也可指物,常和living互换,当用作定语时,一般应放在所修饰的名词之后。
