Iknowthatformanyofyou,todayisthefirstdayofschool.Andforthoseofyouinkindergarten,orstartingmiddleorhighschool,it'syourfirstdayinanewschool,soit'sunderstandableifyou'realittlenervous.Iimaginetherearesomeseniorsouttherewhoarefeelingprettygoodrightnow--(applause)--withjustonemoreyeartogo.Andnomatterwhatgradeyou'rein,someofyouareprobablywishingitwerestillsummerandyoucould'vestaye

Iknowthatfeeling.WhenIwasyoung,myfamilylivedoverseas.IlivedinIndonesiaforafewyears.Andmymother,shedidn'thavethemoneytosendmewherealltheAmericankidswenttoschool,butshethoughtitwasimportantformetokeepupwithanAmericaneducation.Soshedecidedtoteachmeextralessonsherself,MondaythroughFriday.Butbecauseshehadtogotowork,theonlytimeshecoulddoitwasat4:

Now,asyoumightimagine,Iwasn'ttoohappyaboutgettingupthatearly.Anda
lotoftimes,I'dfallasleeprightthereatthekitchentable.ButwheneverI'dcomplain,mymotherwouldjustgivemeoneofthoselooksandshe'dsay,"Thisisnopicnicformeeither,buster."(Laughter.)
SoIknowthatsomeofyouarestilladjustingtobeingbackatschool.ButI'mheretodaybecauseIhavesomethingimportanttodiscusswithyou.I'mherebecauseIwanttotalkwithyouaboutyoureducationandwhat'sexpectedofallofyouinthisnewschoolyear.
Now,I'vegivenalotofspeechesabouteducation.AndI'vetalkedaboutresponsibilityalot.
I'vetalkedaboutteachers'responsibilityforinspiringstudentsandpushingyoutolearn.
I'vetalkedaboutyourparents'responsibilityformakingsureyoustayontrack,andyougetyourhomeworkdone,anddon'tspendeverywakinghourinfrontoftheTVorwiththeXbox.
I'vetalkedalotaboutyourgovernment'sresponsibilityforsettinghighstandards,andsupportingteachersandprincipals,andturningaroundschoolsthataren'tworking,wherestudentsaren'tgettingtheopportunitiesthattheydeserve.
Butattheendoftheday,wecanhavethemostdedicatedteachers,themost
supportiveparents,thebestschoolsintheworld--andnoneofitwillmakeadifference,noneofitwillmatterunlessallofyoufulfillyourresponsibilities,unlessyoushowuptothoseschools,unlessyoupayattentiontothoseteachers,unlessyoulistentoyourparentsandgrandparentsandotheradultsandputinthehardworkittakestosucceed.That'swhatIwanttofocusontoday:
theresponsibilityeachofyouhasforyoureducation.
Iwanttostartwiththeresponsibilityyouhavetoyourself.Everysingleoneofyouhassomethingthatyou'regoodat.Everysingleoneofyouhassomethingtooffer.Andyouhavearesponsibilitytoyourselftodiscoverwhatthatis.That'stheopportunityaneducationcanprovide.
Maybeyoucouldbeagreatwriter--maybeevengoodenoughtowriteabookorarticlesinanewspaper--butyoumightnotknowituntilyouwritethatEnglishpaper--thatEnglishclasspaperthat'sassignedtoyou.Maybeyoucouldbeaninnovatororaninventor--maybeevengoodenoughtocomeupwiththenextiPhoneorthenewmedicineorvaccine--butyoumightnotknowituntilyoudoyourprojectforyourscienceclass.MaybeyoucouldbeamayororasenatororaSupremeCourtjustice--butyoumightnotknowthatuntilyoujoinstudentgovernmentorthedebateteam.
Andnomatterwhatyouwanttodowithyourlife,Iguaranteethatyou'llneedaneducationtodoit.Youwanttobeadoctor,orateacher,orapoliceofficer?
Youwanttobeanurseoranarchitect,alawyeroramemberofourmilitary?
You'regoingtoneedagoodeducationforeverysingleoneofthosecareers.Youcannotdropoutof
schoolandjustdropintoagoodjob.You'vegottotrainforitandworkforitandlearnforit.
Andthisisn'tjustimportantforyourownlifeandyourownfuture.Whatyoumakeofyoureducationwilldecidenothinglessthanthefutureofthiscountry.ThefutureofAmericadependsonyou.Whatyou'relearninginschooltodaywilldeterminewhetherweasanationcanmeetourgreatestchallengesinthefuture.
You'llneedtheknowledgeandproblem-solvingskillsyoulearninscienceandmathtocurediseaseslikecancerandAIDS,andtodevelopnewenergytechnologiesandprotectourenvironment.You'llneedtheinsightsandcritical-thinkingskillsyougaininhistoryandsocialstudiestofightpovertyandhomelessness,crimeanddiscrimination,andmakeournationmorefairandmorefree.You'llneedthecreativityandingenuityyoudevelopinallyourclassestobuildnewcompaniesthatwillcreatenewjobsandboostoureconomy.
Weneedeverysingleoneofyoutodevelopyourtalentsandyourskillsandyourintellectsoyoucanhelpusoldfolkssolveourmostdifficultproblems.Ifyoudon'tdothat--ifyouquitonschool--you'renotjustquittingonyourself,you'requittingonyourcountry.
Now,Iknowit'snotalwayseasytodowellinschool.Iknowalotofyouhavechallengesinyourlivesrightnowthatcanmakeithardtofocusonyourschoolwork.
Igetit.Iknowwhatit'slike.MyfatherleftmyfamilywhenIwastwoyearsold,andIwasraisedbyasinglemomwhohadtoworkandwhostruggledattimestopaythebillsandwasn'talwaysabletogiveusthethingsthatotherkidshad.ThereweretimeswhenImissedhavingafatherinmylife.ThereweretimeswhenIwaslonelyandIfeltlikeIdidn'tfitin.
SoIwasn'talwaysasfocusedasIshouldhavebeenonschool,andIdidsomethingsI'mnotproudof,andIgotinmoretroublethanIshouldhave.Andmylifecouldhaveeasilytakenaturnfortheworse.
ButIwas--Iwaslucky.Igotalotofsecondchances,andIhadtheopportunitytogotocollegeandlawschoolandfollowmydreams.Mywife,ourFirstLadyMichelleObama,shehasasimilarstory.Neitherofherparentshadgonetocollege,andtheydidn'thavealotofmoney.Buttheyworkedhard,andsheworkedhard,sothatshecouldgotothebestschoolsinthiscountry.
Someofyoumightnothavethoseadvantages.Maybeyoudon'thaveadultsinyourlifewhogiveyouthesupportthatyouneed.Maybesomeoneinyourfamilyhaslosttheirjobandthere'snotenoughmoneytogoaround.Maybeyouliveinaneighborhoodwhereyoudon'tfeelsafe,orhavefriendswhoarepressuringyoutodothingsyouknowaren'tright.

做一个诚实守信的中学生
山是有力量的,水是有力量的,风也是有力量的,但我觉得,在人生的舞台上没有比诚实守信更有力量,更能影响一个人的前程和做为。
因此,作为长身体、学知识阶段的我们要从小养成诚信为本的美德。
诚是诚实,真诚,谦诚,是“壁立千仞,无欲则刚“的博大,信则理解为信用、信誉、守信,是掷地有声的一诺千金。
它要求你们在学习和做人上要言必信,行必果,不弄虚假,言而有信。
例如:
老师讲究一个问题,你没有听懂怎么办?
甚至给你讲了三遍你还不懂你又怎么办?
这就是对你诚的考验。
你犯了错误,经老师批评和教育,你已认识到危害性并答应老师改正,有的同学甚至于痛苦流涕,指天发誓,要老师相信你,这又是对你诚信的拷问。
只有诚实守信,才能立足于社会。
“人无信而不立”,中国古代伟大的教育家、思想家孔子反复主张。
一个人若没信用,它就不能与人进行正常的交往,它在社会中也就失去了立足之地,一个不讲信用的人,恐怕一天也不能被社会接纳。
诚实守信可以树立良好的形象。
一个人形象的树立,往往首先看它是否诚信。
如果一个人诚实守信,那么他的人格就是高大的。
在中华民族的传统里,诚信永远是一个高尚人格的人应具的品德。
相反,一个人如果不讲诚信,朝三暮四,就会被世人所唾弃。
诚实守信可以能够赢得别人的信任和赞誉。
一个人如果为人虚伪、投机取巧、背信弃义,就会失信于人,破坏人际间的正常关系。
所以我希望大家能够从我做起,从小事做起,做一个诚信的人!
在这里向大家提三点建议:
(一)诚实待人,以真诚的言行对待他人、关心他人,对他人富有同情心,乐于助人。
严格要求自己,言行一致,不说谎话,作业和考试求真实,不抄袭、不作弊。
(二)做到守时、守信、有责任心,承诺的事情一定要做到,言必信、行必果。
遇到失误,勇于承担应有的责任,知错就改。
(三)遵守法律法规、校规校纪和社会公德的教育,培养法律意识和规则意识,具备良好的道德品质。
同学们,一个人的真诚,守信不是从天而降的,不是想有就有的,而是实实在在,一点一滴累积起来的,成功者的真诚、信誉里总是装着太多对自己的约束,对别人的承诺,也装着太多超人的付出。
试想,如果我们自己,我们身边的每个人都能做到诚信,那么明天该会多么明净,多么美好!

诚信是什么?
诚信是成功的钥匙。
诚信是金,品质纯正而弥足珍贵,值得我们珍藏在心灵的最深处;诚信是树,需要灌溉、培土、剪枝,直至长成挺拔繁茂的参天乔木;诚信是泉,澄澈透明、涓涓不息、荡涤污渍、滋润心田。
诚信,即诚实,守信,那么,何谓“诚实”?
何谓“守信”?
我以为,“诚实”即实事求是,不撒谎,不作假。
“守信”即言而有信,说到做到,决不反悔。
所谓“一诺千金”,“一言即出,驷马难追”,说的就是这个道理。
诚信,是为人之本。
它以高尚的心为基础,以责任感道德为前提,不诚信也许可以欺骗一时,但长期下去,丑陋的面目定会露出来,而且从此就会失去人们的信任,实在有点得不
偿失,更是自欺欺人。
《郁离子》中记载了一个因失信而丧生的故事:
济阳有个商人过河时船沉了,他抓住一根大麻杆大声呼救。
有个渔夫闻声而致。
商人急忙喊:
“我是济阳最大的富翁,你若能救我,给你100两金子”。
待被救上岸后,商人却翻脸不认帐了。
他只给了渔夫10两金子。
富翁说:
“你一个打渔的,一生都挣不了几个钱,突然得十两金子还不满足吗?
”渔夫只得怏怏而去。
不料想后来那富翁又一次在原地翻船了。
有人欲救,那个曾被他骗过的渔夫说:
“他就是那个说话不算数的人!
”于是商人淹死了。
商人两次翻船而遇同一渔夫是偶然的,但商人的不得好报却是在意料之中的。
难道做到“诚实守信”真的如此难吗?
确实,要一辈子做到诚实守信实属不易。
我以为“诚信”二字看似简单,却重逾千斤。
有很多人因为贪图一点点小便宜就放弃了“做人”二字,但往往事情败露,从而得不偿失。
也许大家思维中都有一种定式,“诚信”就是“君子”的专利,其实不然,“诚信”其实就在我们心中。
现在,进入期末,我们应该恪守中华民族的传统美德,不要因为一个错误的判断毁了你的整场考试。
在考试前,我们只要认真上好每一堂复习课,回家加强巩固,仔细做好每一道习题,就可以在考试中胸有成竹的答题了。
相信这肯定比在考试时,偷偷做一些不该做的事,一旦被发现,可就不是0分那么简单了。
因此,为了我们的现在,也为了我们的未来,请做一个诚实守信的人吧。
一个讲诚信的人谓之“君子”,一个讲“诚信”的民族定是巨人,必将立于不败之地。

近年来,诚信却受到了严峻的挑战,且不说商场上尔虞我诈,也不必说黑心棉,民工米,就是哪一天你扶起一位摔倒在路边的老人,说不定你就惹上了麻烦和官司。
多年前,以为北大新生入学,他提着大包小包,在偌大的北大校园里不知所措。
情急之下,他看见一位穿着布衫的长者,便把行李往他身边一放,说道:
“师傅,麻烦您帮我看着点啊!
”一个多小时后,这位新生办完一切手续回来,发现那位长者依然为他守着行李,寸步不离。
在第二天的新生入学大会上,他发现,昨天为他守行李的长者正坐在主席台的中央。
