ThroughIMLD,moreandmorepeoplecometorealizetheterriblesituationandtrytostopit.Google's2018Endangered(濒临灭绝的)LanguagesProjectisagoodexample.Manyspeakersandprotectorsofendangeredlanguagesupload(上传)texts,audiosandvideostotheprojectwebsite.Theywanttointroducethewaythatpeoplecommunicateandexpressthemselvesaroundtheworld.

TheMyaamiaProjectisthesamekindofefforttorevivethelanguagespokenbytheMiamitribes(部落)oftheUnitedStates.Projectmembersworktoencouragepeopletostudyandcommunicatewiththislanguage,whichdiedoutinthe1960s.

Theseactivitiesgivelifetothoseendangeredlanguages.Peoplewhoworktokeeplanguagesalivearenotlimitedtothepast.Manyyoungpeopledesignappsandusesocialmediatosupporttheiractivities.They“spreadtheword”tosavetheword.

So,whiletheproblemofdisappearinglanguagesremainsaveryseriousone,thereishope.Weallhaveaspecialfeelingofourmotherlanguage.ThisiswhyweshouldrememberthewisewordsoflatepresidentofSouthAfrica,NelsonMandela:

Howtodisposeofourgarbagewelldependsonwhatkindofgarbageitis:

regular(普通的)garbage,dangerousmaterials,orrecyclablematerials,suchasnewspapersandglassbottles.Regulargarbagegoestoregularlandfills.Dangerousmaterialsareharmfultopeople'shealthandtheenvironment.Theyshouldn'tgointoregularlandfills.

Homesarefullofdangerouswaste.Onekindofthedangerouswasteinhomesisbatteries.Whenbatteriesareburieddirectly(直接地)inalandfill,theyoftenbreakopen.Thepoisoninsidethemmovesthroughrainwatertothebottomofthelandfill.Thenitcanpollutethenaturalwaterintheground.
