WhenIwas17,aboybrokemyheart.Thenighthecalledforthelasttime,Icriedmyselftosleep.WhenIawokeinthemorning,therewasalineofwordsonmymirrorinredlipstick.IthoughtaboutthatquotationfromEmersonforalongtime,anduntilmyhearthealedandwenttogettheglasscleaned,mymotherkneweverythingwasallrightagain.Onemonthbeforemyhighschoolgraduation,myfatherdiedofaheartattack.Myfeelingsrangedfromgrieftoabandonment,fearandoverwhelminganger;mydadwasmissingsomeofthemostimportanteventsinmylife.Ibecamecompletelyuninterestedinmycominggraduation,theplayandtheprom.Butmymother,inthemidstofherowngrief,wouldnothearofmyskippinganyofthosethings.
